Diversity, Travel, Protection and Waterways

The Navy Blue and Black color scheme of the flag represents the police in our county. Not only does the blue represent the police, but the three stripes represent the three major rivers that flow through our county. The blue border of the star represents Lake Michigan, and the black star represents the City of Chicago. The six points in the star correlate with the Chicago City flag, the capital of the county. Each of the points also represents the six main geographic regions of the county. The blank white blocks represent the international airports in our county, symbolizing diversity and travel that comes in and out of Cook County.
