I chose to make the base shape of my design the Celtic Knot because one of its main origins is Ireland and Chicago has large Irish tradition each year. The color of the actual knot is the same color of the CTA logo, CTA vehicles are used all over cook county to get around, and they play a huge part of what makes Chicago Chicago. The dark blue in the design is to represent Lake Michigan, a big staple of Cook county from North Suburbs to South Suburbs. The dark green represents the forest preserves and parks throughout Cook County. The red represents our health care, also it is the same color as the stars in the Chicago flag so the red also represents our great history. Finally, the grey in the middle represents Downtown Chicago, the capital of Cook County the epicenter of population, and the biggest part of how people picture Cook County.
