Colors: Blue, white, green, and yellow
Meanings/Symbolism: Blue stands for the waters of the county, especially Lake Michigan and the Chicago River. White stands for the highway system and the city in general between Lake Michigan and the forest preserves. Green stands for nature, parks, and forest preserves. Yellow stands for the sun shining over the county.
The flag calls to mind an environment that is peaceful and relaxing. The tones of the colors lend to that because they are softer, leading the viewer to have peaceful, relaxing thoughts and feelings.
