The green six pointed star located in the middle of the flag represents cook county being the center of commerce for the nation (with the color green representing commerce and the location representing the center aspect), the six sides represent the six main geographic regions of the county, and the green color/points also represent the forest preserve by looking like layers of trees. The black lines and black circle surrounding the star represent the transportation and roadways built in Cook county that bring in people from all across the nation and world.
