The deep blue stands for waterways and nature surrounding it, as to the Northeast we have the Great lakes. The lower right water represents the smaller waterways like the Des Plaines River and its trails. The Red 5-pointed star has a point for each of the suburbs. The color palette uses deep, patriotic colors as if welcoming visitors of familiarity.
